The Rotary Club of Tagoreland, chartered on June 14, 2009, with 20 charter members, Club ID -73400 under the leadership of its first President, Rtn. Dipen Mukherjee, has established itself as a vibrant and active force within Rotary District 3240. From its inception, under the guidance of PDG Rtn. Ashok Agarwal, the club has demonstrated a strong commitment to service and community development. Currently, the club boasts a membership of 30, comprising 26 male and 4 female members. The club’s dedication to Rotary’s mission is evident in its impressive record of contributions and achievements. One major donor supports the club’s initiatives, and the club is proud to have one PDG, 16 PHFs, and 4 RLI graduates among its members. Their financial commitment to The Rotary Foundation is substantial, with total contributions reaching $29,445, including 9 PHFs and 5 MPHFs. The Rotary Club of Tagoreland’s signature project is a two-way Vocational Training Team (VTT) program focused on Malaysian Batik training. This impactful initiative, conducted in association with the Rotary Club of Metro Kuantan Diraja, Kualalampur (RI District 3300), has empowered 200 pupils with the skills to become self-sufficient and pursue professional opportunities. In its 15-year journey, the club has successfully executed four Global Grant projects, addressing critical needs in education, sanitation, and community development. These projects include: 1. 2009-10: School Project (with RC of Apple Valley, RI District 5300): Distributed 10,000 aluminum lunch plates to primary school students. 2. 2010-11: Clean Drinking Water Project (with RC San Marino, RI District 5300): Provided permanent water supply to 76 schools and submersible water pumps to 32 schools. 3. 2011-12: Village Project (with RC University Area, Houston, RI District 5890, and RC Calcutta Metropolitan, RI District 3291): Implemented an integrated development project for an entire village, including care for migratory birds. 4. 2014-15: Two-way VTT Malaysian Batik Training Program (with RC of Metro Kuantan Diraja, Kualalampur, RI District 3300): Trained 200 pupils in the art of Malaysian Batik. Beyond these Global Grants, the club has undertaken numerous successful projects funded through District Grants, District 3240 Grants, and club financing. These include digital classroom projects, providing clean drinking water, washrooms, and latrines to schools, distributing sanitary napkin vending machines and incinerators, hand wash unit projects, and providing school desk-benches. The club has also secured CSR funding for school drinking water projects. The Rotary Club of Tagoreland continues to serve its community with dedication and a commitment to Rotary’s ideals.
